FAQ

Teacher, I have a question...

Wonnnnderful! I love an inquisitive mind. Not sure if The Rhythm Lab is right for you or your child?  Let's chat.

Don't be fooled. I love having a great time in class but nobody, and I mean nobody, touches my shoes. #truth

Q: When and where is The Rhythm Lab being held?

The Thunder Bay Rhythm Lab is being held June 10-13, 2024. Classes are held at Spirit of Dance located at 179 Algoma St S.

Q: I just started tap and I'm a quick learner. Can I join my friends in the intermediate class?

Dancing great tap is about building off of the knowledge that you have. I want you to be an expert in the basics so that you can master where you are at and grow in confidence. Beginner means 'at the start' and I am happy to teach you all that you need to know so that you can advance to the next level at your own pace. While joining an intermediate class is not an option at this stage, I want you to come ready to do this class for you. Tap isn't just about being a quick learner and advancing through the basics as fast as possible. It's about creating your sound and learning to listen to the unique rhythm that only you have. Let's take time to discover that together!

Q: What level should I take?

If you aren't sure about what level to take, click on the Learn More button in the different classes. The Learn More button will tell you what steps you should have mastered and what pace you need to be at in order to take the workshop. Remember, it's a workshop. I teach to the level and push past it. You need to be able to keep up so that you can push yourself and feel successful at the end of class. If, after you have read the Learn More section, you are still not sure about what level to be in, ask your dance teacher. Your dance teacher wants you to succeed and they will know which class you are ready for.

Q: I still have questions. How can I reach you?

Q:Can I Video the class?

You bet, snow jet! If you are a student in the class and want to take a video of the steps and combos, go right ahead. Just wait until the end of the class. I want you to learn all that you can. Parents can video on the last day when they are invited in to watch.

If you plan on posting the videos on social media (because who doesn't want to show off your new groove moves?!), I ask that you would tag me (@dancewithamyl). Remember the rule of artists, if you didn't create it--give credit. Let's share our rhythms online and make the world a happier, tappier place. (Yes, I just made up that word.)

Can WE Touch Your Shoes?

No.

Girl, put your records on. I'm ready to take this class and get down with it!
